5 Things to Watch that Can Help You Wake Up

Five 5-minute fixes to falling asleep

No matter who I meet, I rarely find someone who always feels excited, happy and energized. From time to time, we all need a lift, whether it’s emotional, physical or mental. The problem is finding something that can instantly energize us, but if you do, it can be a powerful and productive way to spend 5 minutes.

Here are 5 things to watch, which I have found to be instantly uplifting and energizing:

The 2009 Susan Boyle Britain’s Got Talent audition.

Easy to find on YouTube, this video has over 200 million views. You may laugh or maybe cry, but I promise it will inspire you and put a kick in your step for the rest of the day. You see, music in itself is an endorphin releaser – something that stimulates the brain in a positive way. Put music and a moving story together, and you have an emotionally energizing cocktail.

Amy Cuddy’s Ted Talk entitled, “Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are.”

Yes, this video is 20 minutes long, but it’s the last 5 minutes that you need for a quick lift. Among the most inspirational speeches I have ever heard, this video dives into the power of body language and how it affects others as well as ourselves. It will make you think, become more aware, and in turn, feel energized.

Michael Jr.’s “Know Your Why” speech.

This 3:39-second video of Comedian Michael Jr.’s speech will surely change your mood and maybe give you an idea about your own search for purpose. What’s more energizing than your own personal awakening?

Older Men singing “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” in Canada.

This moving video can be found here and will in fact make you feel the love. Like I said earlier, music is a way to keep the brain stimulated, but for many it can also be distracting. This video is the perfect 3-minute break/distraction during which you can listen to the classic “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” sung by a group of elderly Canadian men.

This taxi driver and woman dancing to “Get Lucky” on a Dublin street.

Sometimes, to lift your spirits and your eyelids, you need to witness something good of humanity. Every day, we take everything so seriously, which can make each move feel “high stakes.” This video of a woman and taxi driver dancing in the streets of Dublin will combat the mundane “Office Space” life. Not only will it make your feet move and your mind groove, but you’ll be reminded of the positive things in life and goodness of humanity.

Positivity Equals Productivity

To be positive, we need to feel positive. The human brain will not allow two conflicting emotions to linger together for any length of time. Start your day by being happy, energized and positive. It will make most everything better.
